Assam

Assam Skill Development Mission is registered under Society Act in 2015 and is working under newly created Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Govt. of Assam with the visions of capacity building of unemployed youth and to deliver quality skill training leading to meaningful employment to stimulate economy of the state. The Mission started its functioning from January, 2017 as:

  • 1. An apex body of all skill initiatives in the state to achieve skilling target of 1.50 lakhs youths in a year.
  • 2. To provide quality skill training for gainful employment of educated unemployed youth.
  • 3. To encourage development of entrepreneurs in different sectors.
  • 4. To implement central sponsored skilling schemes in the state.

West Bengal PaschimBanga Society for Skill Development

Government of West Bengal is Committed towards large scale Skill development for its youth population to improve the scope of gainful employment and entrepreneurial opportunities under the WBSDM (West Bengal Skill Development Mission) chaired by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal. To ensure that the above commitment is met successfully the Department of Technical Education, Training & Skill Development; Government of West Bengal has launched the "Utkarsh Bangla", a flagship scheme on 16th February 2016 under the aegis of the PBSSD (PaschimBanga Society for Skill Development) for placement linked short-term skill trainings across the State of West Bengal. Odisha Skill Development Authority

The state of Odisha has been leading from the front with regard to training the youth in industry-relevant skills. Besides enhancing the employability of youth, there has been strategic focus on entrepreneurship development, improvement of technical education and most importantly, developing the right infrastructure for skills-based training.

Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS)

Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS) acts as the nodal organization for all Skill Development related activities in the state. Working on a delivery-led model, JSDMS is pursuing a target of fresh skilling, re-skilling and upskilling of 20 lakh youths of the state by 2022. With such a massive goal to be achieved, the Skill Mission has adeptly aligned all efforts and initiatives to result-oriented practices and interventions, for youth aged between 18 and 35 years.
The Mission, which has three programs under its banner, namely Saksham Jharkhand Kaushal Vikas Yojana (SJKVY), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Kaushal Kendra (DDU-KK) popularly known as Mega Skill Centers, and Employability Excellence with College Education & Learning (EXCEL) & Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) works on the Public-Private Partnership Model (PPP) and collaborates with private domain training providers referred to as Training Service Providers (TSPs) under the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS) ecosystem.

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC)

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) was formed with an objective to provide demand-based and industry-relevant skills to the youth to enhance their employability and transform the State into the skill hub of India. TNSDC is the Nodal Agency for the skill development related activities in the State and it aims to converge the activities of various stakeholders including industries, industrial associations, training partners, sector skill councils, assessment agencies apart from various other State and Central Government bodies. TNSDC strives to ensure placement oriented quality skill training by empanelling private and Government training partners.

Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge

TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge) is a not for profit organization created by Government of Telangana for bringing synergy among institutions of Government, Industry & Academia with an objective of offering quality human resources and services to the industry.

Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence

With the objective of skilling the young workforce of Kerala and elevating their skills to global standards for employment in India and abroad, the Government of Kerala has set up Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), a non-profit company as the nodal agency for facilitating and coordinating various skill development initiatives of the state

It is incorporated to pursue its main objectives to promote, establish, setup, monitor, govern and regulate institutions and academies for skills excellence for development of core employability skills, competency standards and for promoting technology that meets the demands of various industries globally. KASE is designated as the State Skill Development Mission as per the G.O.(Rt) No.1501/16/LBR dated 02.12.2016 to function as the nodal body for the convergence of all skill initiatives of the state.

Karnataka Skill Development Corporation

Karnataka Skill Development Corporation was formerly known as Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation. It was created Vide Government Order, No. LD 142 ETI 2007 Dated 2/4/2008. The Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation was created with objectives like
1.To design develop and implement various skill-training programs based on the emerging trades and in multi skills, considering the demand of industries.
2.Implement Modular Employable skilled (MES) short term training programs as per DGE&T norms.
3.Implement various employment generating training programs sponsored by Government, Public sector, Enterprises, Corporations, Boards, Local Bodies and Associates etc.
4.Conduct distance learning and e-learning programs in association with Edu-Sat / others.
5.To assist implement and strengthen State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU)
6.To establish study circles to acquire knowledge for the jobs appearing competition examinations through employment exchange
7.To train, assist, facilitate, regulate and provide employment of skilled Karnataka personnel for overseas employment and as global placement service through web portal and co-ordinate with protector of emigration office in Karnataka State for clearance of Emigration and other clearances.

Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission

A National Skill Development Policy was launched in 2009 with the aim of skilling 500 million persons by 2022. Under the National Plan, the State of Uttar Pradesh aims to skill over 4 million youth by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan. In order to achieve this target and provide employable skills to the youth of the State, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has been instituted. Based on the learnings and experiences of other states, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has developed a unique structure for UPSDM. UPSDM acts as an integrated mission which combines the efforts of various State Departments in achieving the skill development targets for the State. UPSDM is the implementing agency for skill development targeted at enhancing employability in Uttar Pradesh, subsuming the targets of various State Departments such as Rural Development, Urban Development, Labour, Minority Welfare, Social Welfare, etc. Established in 2013; mandated to coordinate all skill development initiatives, leveraging on State Skill Development Policy, UPSDM empanelled Private Training Partners in addition to Govt. Training Partners for conducting skill development trainings.

Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN)

Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) was initiated as a specialised skill development company under the Department of Planning (DOP) in September 2015. The aim was to consolidate the fragmented Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (TVET) programs, align all TVET programs with India’s National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), and facilitate private sector participation in design and delivery of TVET.

In June 2016, GOHP approved the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Policy (Him Kaushal), 2016, to guide the reform and expansion of skill development efforts in the state. To operationalise this policy, the HPSDP will focus on building HPKVN’s institutional capacity for delivering the challenging mandate of the state’s skill development mission with the requisite emphasis.

The project will add value by supporting the government in providing NSQF-aligned vocational training and livelihood development opportunities to around 65,000 needy youth over 2017-2022. It will also expand Himachal Pradesh’s annual TVET training capacity by 13,000 and extend the reach of quality training facilities and counselling services to underserved parts of the state. This will help the youth of Himachal Pradesh in imbibing relevant TVET skills and gaining the confidence required to make the transition from the primary sector to the secondary and tertiary sectors, where job prospects are better and remuneration levels are higher.

Gujrat Skill Development Mission (GSDM)

The objective of the mission is to create an overarching integrated framework for action for skill development and to act as apex body for monitoring, coordination, convergence and providing overall policy direction for skill development activities in Gujarat.

The objective of the mission is most beautifully captured in the words of Ho’ble CM of Gujarat and Chairman of the Mission “My vision is that each and every youth of Gujarat is employable.” This exactly is the ultimate aim of the mission.

The mission wants to systematize the skill development efforts in the state and create an environment where each and every youth not only gets some employable skill training but also gets some gainful employment.

In line with the Hon. Prime Minister’s vision, Government of Maharashtra also has prioritized the Skill Development mission and set a vision of equipping 45 million persons with employable skills by the year 2022.

Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS)

To achieve this Skill Development Mission in the state of Maharashtra, Maharashtra State Skill Development Society has been registered on 15th February 2011 under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The Society is established under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and is the Single Nodal Agency for planning, coordination,execution & monitoring of Skill Development Initiative of Government of Maharashtra.The society is functioning under the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, Government of Maharashtra.

All the Skill Development schemes of various departments of Government of Maharashtra will be integrated and implemented through the active coordination under the single umbrella of this society.

Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC)

APSSDC is a unique organization formed as a public private partnership(PPP) corporation to promote skill-development & entrepreneurship in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The corporation is incorporated as a Section-8 company (not-for-profit) with a private equity component of 51% and 49% by Govt of AP. The Corporation now serves as the Executive Agency for the newly formed Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. APSSDC will also serve the important task of providing high quality skilled manpower as part of the acknowledge and Skills Mission of GoAP, which is one of the cross-cutting missions among the seven missions formed by the govt to facilitate double digit growth of the state.

Rajasthan Skills & Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC)

Rajasthan is the first State in India to establish a Mission on Livelihoods. In order to address the challenges of unemployment and ensuring gainful and sustainable employment to the youth of the state, Hon’ble Chief Minister created Rajasthan Mission on Livelihood (RMoL) in September 2004. The objective of creation of RMoL was to formulate appropriate and innovative strategies to promote and facilitate large scale livelihoods for the poor and vulnerable people of the state. Understanding the importance of skill development as a vehicle for enhancing employability of working population, RMoL was rechristened as Rajasthan Mission on Skill and Livelihoods in 2009-10.

RSLDC was incorporated as Section 25 Company, a Not for Profit company, on 17th August, 2010 with the Chief Secretary as the Chairman of the Company. As part of its major action, it established skill Training mechanism by involving training partner agencies to execute the training program across the State.

Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM)

Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM) has been providing free skill development training to youth over all 13 districts urban and rural sectors of state. In order to address the challenges of unemployment and ensuring gainful and sustainable employment to the youth of the state, Hon'ble Chief Minister created Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission UKSDM in February 2013. The state plan to train 6.5 lac youth and provide employment.

Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM)

Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM) has been established in May 2015 by State Government with an aim to empower youth to take part in the economic and all around growth of HARYANA AND INDIA. The Mission is a single point of contact within the Government to formulate and steer skill development schemes across the Department. HSDM acts as an integrated mission which combines the efforts of various State Departments in achieving the skill development target of the State.

HSDM already have 80+ courses, which covers 15+ different sectors available for the youth of Haryana in our schemes like SURYA, SAKSHAM, PMKVY etc.
The Mission also has Entrepreneurship scheme which is currently being implemented through HVSU. Equipped with a team of professionals and cutting edge Training partners, each program is implemented with the vision of developing futuristic knowledge, skills and hence gaining the employment or becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM)

Punjab Skill Development Mission provides free employment linked skill development trainings to the Youth in the age group of 18-35 years across the state under the various state and centrally sponsored schemes. These nationally certified trainings are provided through empanelled training partners at centres in urban and rural areas across the state in over 20 different sectors like Plumbing, Healthcare, Media & Entertainment, Green Jobs, Domestic Workers, Retail, Beauty, Construction, Electronics and Hardware, Food Processing, Health Care, IT ITES, Leather, Logistics etc. Mission has been constantly bridging the gap between skilled people required in Industry and unemployed youth by ensuring that the right candidate chooses the right course according to his/her academic background, aptitude and skill-set. PSDM in its ambit covers various kinds of schemes thereby ensuring universal coverage from various sections of the society including Urban/ Rural, Border Area, traditional courses like Phulkari Jutti making/ modern courses thereby providing opportunity to all.

MPSSDEGB

MPSSDEGB has been acting as the nodal agency for all the Skill Development initiatives in the State of Madhya Pradesh. In order to ensure that the State is able to translate the large availability of working age population into a demographic advantage, the State has launched the Mukhya Mantri Kaushal Samvardhan Yojna (MMKSY). MMKSY aims at raising the skilling quotient of the youth in the State by providing access to short term demand driven training courses in employable trades.A similar scheme “Mukhya Mantri Kaushalya Yojna (MMKY)” has also been launched exclusively for women of the State for skill development and enhancing their employment quotient with an aim of increasing financial independence of women. MMKSY & MMKY aim at providing the ‘Skill Set’ which is sufficient to allow an individual to be gainfully employed or self-employed. These schemes have been launched with an overall target of 4,50,000 candidates.
